Ingnition Switch / Door Locks

Ok, so I've spent the last two days adjusting the valves in my new project.

New pushrods and about 5 hours. Started her up and man what a difference. Then I went to drive it out of the driveway, and it died. Tried to start and the battery is dead. Not surprised.'

Get the jumper cables and the burban, hook everything up, turn the ignition and snap, the key breaks off.

Ok, it was the only key. I know this was stupid of me but I've been trying several places and none had the right blank.

Any ideas? Can a locksmith make a key from the lock? I've checked LMC and they have the locks, and the ignition switch but not a set that's key'd alike. Me likes the one key setup. Anyone been down this road?

Thanks.

I got a set from cheyenne pickup parts about 4 years ago that covered the Ignition switch, doors, and glove box.

Early classic has the same kit. P/N 05-LKSS99 $50

Yes a locksmith can key that up for you.

Re: Ingnition Switch / Door Locks

I didn't have the number at the time, but i would suggest GMC Pauls.

He has the complete kit including glove box lock:
P/N 522820 $39.95

Not to mention he's a site supporter, and highly reccomended.

Re: Ingnition Switch / Door Locks

I have bought a couple one-key sets on eBay, so they are out there.

Did you get the broken piece out of the switch? If so you can send me the two pieces and I can cut you two new keys and send them back to you for 5 bucks.

If interested PM me....

now you cant beat a deal like that!! You better do it. If you cant get the key out, send him the whole cylinder .

I wonder if you cant find original blanks because you are going to stores that just happen to cut keys instead of a real locksmith shop. Originals are still plentiful

Re: Ingnition Switch / Door Locks

I got the set from GMC Pauls and it was perfect for my '73, I'm sure it's the same for the 67-72. Always quality with that guy over there.
