What to do? Wife wants in!!
Well I picked up another short wide over the weekend since they are so hard to find. This one is stripped down, no motor, no trans, no wiring, just a bare swb shell with a restored frame. Front end has been rebuilt and frame painted. I was debating to sell it for the frame and short wheel base bed. Now wife says why don't I build one for her. She said "we", funny huh, have a 67 front end already in the garage and we could find a cab and doors right? I said sure, I guess. Then she proceeds to tell me that we can find a motor and trans on craigslist. So....I said okay. You find the parts and I will build the truck for you. She is going to pick out the colors, options and all. I have a spare brake booster setup, a steering column, extra instrument cluster panel, and need to find a good cab and doors. Will post up some pics of the truck tomorrow. What do you guys think about THAT!!!

That's cool. I was going to build a 72 short step for my wife had a complete truck but ended up parting it out do to finacial reasons. Now she wants a 4wd blazer. Got to try to find them when I can spare the funds

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
Hey that sounds great neighbor. I think I know why she wants a truck like that. Asked her if she saw me driving by the other day in the neighbor hood with my kids. My truck looks a little bit better now. I have a few more things to do. I will then leave it alone for awhile and concentrate on the my red truck. bye..Luis

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
She said she saw you drive by the house but wondered if you knew that we still lived there since we sold our powerstroke Ford, got ride of the green chevy extd cab too. You need to stop by when you get a chance. I thought you fell off the face of the earth. I drove by your house the other day and saw your red 68 out front though.
I think we just found a donor cab complete with wiring and new doors on it and all. Will go look at it tomorrow after work. She said she wants it BLACK!! Holy Crap will have to be arrow straight. No she does not have a sister. Sorry! |

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
Your Wife wanting to get involved. That is terrific. My wife is there as well. When I was in Iraq my Mom met a hotrodder and my Wife fell in love with the hobby. It sure makes it easier as well when you need parts. I really enjoy it because we can spend more time with each other. Good luck to you.

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
She is an Aries, and there nature is that they are very competitive. She is already talking about outdoing my truck!! I said really, who is going to do the bodywork and paint it for you!! She said she would call my painter!! She used to be a territory manager for a PPG paint jobber.

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
Sounds like you are one lucky man 72CSTC5 my ex wife like old cars and stuff as well as many other things but, never would have wanted onre for her self.
The girlfreind now loves cars and stuff but she likes the Harley stuff more than the car and truck stuff. Yours truely sound like a GR8 one to me, and if she is competitive like you say that just give you more leeway to make your truck that muck better also. right? |

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
Okay now she is thinking a Pewter or Platinum color. We had a 2000 convertible vette that color that we sold last year. Interesting I thought to myself. Does anyone have any pictures of a pewter or silverbirch colored 67-72 truck?

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
That one is nice! She is saying now that more Platinum color like the Chevrolet "Silver Birch". You know girls like Platinum. She grabbed the Brother's catalog out of my hand tonight that just came in the mail. She said she is picking out "jewelry" for her truck.

Re: What to do? Wife wants in!!
Carlos take this deal and run with it. When we built my wifes Camaro there was no limit on what we spent. She wanted it to be a show winner and said do whatever it takes.
Now when I spend money on a hotrod she knows better than to complain.
