Question Carrier bearing 101.....need some information

Need some help deciding on what carrier bearing setup to put in the 67 Crewcab. Originally it had to 2 carrier bearings and 3 drive lines. I plan on using only 1 carrier bearing and 2 drive shafts since I am changing it from a LWB bed to a SWB bed. I've noticed several different types. I'm guessing the difference is between 1/2 T and 3/4 T but I'm not really sure. Any information/suggestions/pictures would be helpful.

Also, I bought a SWB truck for the frame and it had 2 drive shafts and a carrier bearing. Thought that was weird for a SWB. I think it was orignally a 4 speed truck. Is that normal?

Don't know about the 3 drive shafts on a SWB. I remember seeing a thread on a new carrier bearing that someone was using - it was polyethylene or something, and they were saying it was working good for them. You might do a search. Good luck with that project, it sounds like there's a lot of new ground you are going to cover that no one else has!

my ccsb duramax has only 1 about a foot from the end of the cab. works well...when it's aligned right.

Here's some picture of the "original" setup (2 carrier bearings). I also attached a picture to show the difference between a SWB chassis and a LWB chassis that has the cab extended 33", .

its a wee bit longer aint it, cant wait to see this thing when its done, but as far as the SWB having a 2piece, ive seen one with it also

personally i think id go with the 3/4T setup

My '88 extended cab longbox has the OE shorty th400 (bolt on yoke style) and one carrier bearing. Should work good for you too. Are you staying with the FF rear, or going 12 bolt? If going 12 bolt, I'd recommend buying a pinion yoke to "up size" from the puny 1310 joint to the FF's 1350 joint. especially if you are going to do any trailer pulling. 1310's don't live long in a heavy truck, especially if it is gonna have a heavy foot & power

Better late than never? I lost my digi cord, had to go buy a card reader. I'm sure I'll find my cord laying out in open sight now.

I swapped the OE Dana 70HD w/4.10's for a 14 bolt with new 3.21's. The 14's pinion yoke-to-axle centerline distance is shorter than the 70HD. I had to lengthen my rear shaft.

My 91' Ex Cab LB had a 2 piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing & a slipshaft at the carrier bearing. My rear suspension had over 13" of lift and truck performed flawlessly at any rideheight. Wheelbase is probably going to be fairly close too... Somewhere I should have a pic of the chassis after doing the stockfloor bodydrop on it. I'lle look around tonight.
