York air pump
i have a question about york pumps. aren't they a oil splash pump that people are using for air bag setups? if that is true, what do you have to do to them so they fill up a tank? do they make aftermarket mounting brackets for them so i could have it mounted low on the passenger side of the block? a friend bought a chev van that had one and the clutch seems to work fine but its disconected, the motor came out of something else and they didnt take it off.
Thanks for any info you guys have Ben

Re: York air pump
you're probably not going to be able to find brackets that you want. You're best bet would be to fab your own brackets. Kirby sells a double v belt pulley for the alternator of you need it.

Re: York air pump
No one makes a kit for the Passenger side (York sitting in my garage right
now awaiting installation and considering giving up on it) All the brackets available are for the Driver's side. I contacted one company about making a mirror image bracket like he sells for the Passenger side and he said that there is not enough demand As for the compressor itself, you do have to make a small mod to it concerning the oil, I got all of my info over HERE Just look for posts about Yorks and my Board ID (Same ID as on this Board)

Re: York air pump
I should have kept all my stuff. My '69 had a JC Penny A/C unit that was under the dash. It used a York mounted on the passenger side and had a pulley that mounted to the crank. I still have the pulley attached to an engine in a friends garage, but I tossed everything when I replaced the motor.

Re: York air pump
I just made passenger brackets for my York, modified the extra bracket that came with the pump (junkyard). Anyways, I just need a few fittings to connect the hydraulic hose to the compressor and I'll be good to go.
Oh, I also tapped the top holes for 3/8" NPT thread so I don't have to buy adapter fittings, we'll see how that goes. I will toss up pictures when I'm done, just waiting on a paycheck to finish her up. My York was also my engineering project last semester, took about 60 pages of prints to show how to make the pump, I just wish I could get the prints back and show them to ya'll. I don't believe that the pump will fit down by the frame on these trucks, as there isn't a ton of room unless you go for the smaller pumps.
