Question Houston area get together?

Anyone in the Houston area interested in a get together to sit on each other's tailgates, drink beer, look at out trucks, and maybe drink a beer? I see small shows down in League City all the time. Any interest? If so, I'll look into it . . .

I'll bring my ride. Althoug I'm not too sure how much of a show it will be with Dirtdobber's and my truck there. Unless by two-tone you mean bed one color and the cab and front clip another. That's two-tone, right??

Hehe, I gotta get my truck running first. actually, it just needs brakes, front AND rear. Already got the rear parts, salvage power parts and am waiting for gmcpaul's disc conversion to come in. I also picked up a nice "new" 350 to swap out as it was much cheaper than a rebuild. I might even find a burb tank and swap that in. Once I get all that done (and insure it), I am game anytime. I am just gauging interest so we can figure out a plan.

I would like to suggest Sunday October, 27. We can meet at the DelMar swapmeet at DelMar stadium. We could meet in the parking lot, or I think they have an area inside for cars that just want to show. I know they have a car corral for For Sale cars. Will a Houston area member call and find out if we can meet inside for free or cheap since we will not be selling our rides.Contact info-Albert 281-379-5257. This is a one day swap meet and over the last twenty years I have found some good bergains. Thanks, Lyman.

there is another swap meet at delmar? They just had one a few weeks ago, and Old Irons of Texas (who puts it on) is having one October 13 at the horse track...if there is another one cool... but I'm not sure.

Dirt Dobber: I got the info from the Lone Star Street Rod newsletter. Please call Albert (no last name listed) at 281-379-5257 and see what the deal is for sure. Thanks, Lyman.

I'll give'em a buzz and see what I can do. They used to have swap meets at delmar one sunday a month... I'll call and see and post my findings Monday... I need to unload somestuff anyway... I may just pay the entry and sell it

I'll try to make it, too. The Del-Mar website is out of date, so they don't mention anything upcoming. The only thing listed is the 10/13 meet at the horse track. I was planning to go on the 13th, since it's close to my house, but I'll go to Del-Mar also.

got the scoop

there will be a swap meet at Del-mar on the 27th of October. It's put on by Texas Street Machines.

This is the set up.

They have an area to park "nice" (her words) cars, to show or if you don't want to leave it out in the parking lot to get dinged up.
This is free as long as it doesn't have a for sale sign on it.

with a for sale sign is $20.00 for the day.

a small space or truck without trailer is $20.00

a truck and trailer is $30.00

This is a do-able plan for me.

I'll shoot to have my pickemup ready by then. Doing a straight longblock swap and brakes on all corners. If time runs tight, I have extra beers . . .

I may post pone tearing mine apart and bring the 71... but I'll probably bring the 68 it has a decent 50 foot paint job. The 71 is just plain ugly. I could get it through the gate by saying I didn't want to leave it in the parking lot and pop the hood to show why.
neither one qualifies as a "nice" car to the average person. But full of potential.

Let's do it!

I will plan on being there. I do not currently have a 67-72 gm pickup, but would like to see everybody's ride-finished or not. I will park my 77 ford at least 6 spaces down from the 67-72 gathering(lol). The gulf coast rust worms ate my 72 GMC and I sold it about a year ago. How about it, who can make it? Thanks, Lyman.

I can be there but . . .

I'm gonna need help! I have to redo our bathroom first, which will probably take 3 weekends or so. That'll leave me 2 weekends to get my truck done. No problem for a professional but I am a little slower. I can work some at night too but may ask (beg) for some help on those 2 weekends. Anyone up for some beer and pizza?

my schedule is really constricted working two jobs. and this coming weekend is definately out. But I will offer to help if my schedule permits and that is based on a day to day basis... Let me know when you plan on doing it and I'll see what I can do. and btw which part of town are you in?

Southside --> Friendswood specifically
Thanks for the offer. I'll keep your schedule in mind when and if I ask.
