If You Can't Find a Stepside Tailgate.......
While traveling over Memorial week end I happened on this solution to not being able to find a Tailgate for a Stepper, Was in a small Town in Virgina.
Stopped to take a few pics of it & a kid about 17 or so came from the shop across the street, Talked with him briefly about his Truck & made him aware of the Board. Not really my Taste, However i did compliment him on his Truck & the Work he had put in it. Just wanted to Share with all............. Thanks, Rick |

Re: If You Can't Find a Stepside Tailgate.......
Yeah...that's not for me either...I like the truck all the way up to the back...
It seems like with all the work that went into making it fit and all...would have been money ahead to just buy a new gate?

I would never discourage a young man with the talent and desire to do that work...but I would buy him a subscription to Classic Trucks or some comparable magazine.

Re: If You Can't Find a Stepside Tailgate.......
It’s OK to have different visions on what looks good. You got to admire the work that went into it, not only did the sides have to be grafted, the tailgate had to be narrowed to fit the inside width of the step sides. I give it two thumbs up on craftsmanship and creativity.

LMAO "...well... a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do!" also, "adapt, or become extinct" comes to mind.
anyway, not that i would ever recommend someone do that, its actually not so hideous, and apparently the owner is totally happy with it. definatly hve to commend his creativity! Last edited by RedZ71; 06-02-2007 at 08:42 AM. |

Re: If You Can't Find a Stepside Tailgate.......
Definitely took some work and time. He did a good job grafting. And it doesn't really look too bad on it. I kinda like it. Bet there's not another one around his area like that.
