I am not sure how to spell this but I like Mequiras Gold (sp). I should go out to the garage to check the spelling but too lazy.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
I find for the great protection, next to no work and a look that will knock your socks off the only choice is Liqui Tech "FINISH FIRST" which is a NO wax finish. Take some time and google this company. You will be happy that you did.
When I operated my Corvette parts/restoration business this is the only product that I sold. It works and is safe to use in many different applications such as Auto, Boats and the Home. No wax build up to contend with, has a UV protectent built in so all you do is just wipe on wait for it to haze (about 2 or 3 minutes) and then wipe off no work out is involved. esll.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
I'm a BIG fan of Menzerna products. I've also had great results with Poorboys and Zaino. I've found Meguiars NXT to be the best locally available "wax" as far as ease of use, minor swirl filling and depth of shine. It's not the most durable though.

Is there a system that works particular well for dark single stage paints ? I have a burgundy truck with cheap single stage paint, and the Texas sun is really bad on it seeing as it's never garaged. Oxidation happens very quickly. I need something that lasts awhile and will protect well against UV rays and oxidation. Also, whats the best rubbing and polishing compound I can buy to remove the oxidation and bring back the shine before waxing ? I have used Turtle Wax liquid rubbing compound with Meguiars polish and had good results but I think I can do a lot better.

Once again, I think if y ou got your hands on the Wizards, you would be surprised. The pics up above are on a truck that is black and clear coated, but the shine stays. I use this stuff on all o f my daioly driven vehicles. The white truck that I have has a pearl mix in the clear coat and the shine stays through the Kansas winters. I use 3M FINNESSE IT rubbing compund on most of my stuff and then follow it up with a coat of Wizards "Shinemaster" or if nothing else a 3M glazing compound. 3M has advanced to different rubbing compounds, but unless you are quick on the draw, the FINNESSE IT is the best choice. This stuff works on plastic pieces for getting scratches out. Once again refer to the black truck above for the shine. |

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
Have you looked at the "Wizards" product line. They have a pint sealant that works extremely well in all kinds of weather. The winter snow and road crud seems to wash off easily and the summer collecdtion of bugs and bird stuff is easily removed.
I use their Sealant called "SHINEMASTER" and their detail spray that is called "MIST-N-SHINE". Go to their website and check them out. www.wizardsproducts.com If you have to go to a body shop when the accident does happen, the sealant is easily removed and the new paint work is not ruined. |

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
I use the shinemaster also and love it. The first coat takes a little longer to put on but after that I can do my whole suburban in about 45 min. and it is black. Dave

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
I used to show Corvetes for about 10 years and the really, really best wax I ever used was Nu Finish. Yep, you can buy it at Wal Mart. Its liquid so it goes on easy. I use a buffer to apply and remove the polish. You can put it on and come back 4 hours later and it still buffs off easily. It beads a lot longer than Meguiers by my own tests. (not scientific I admit, but real world) Man, its all I use and I have won best paint of show and always first, second or third in my class and people can't believe it when I tell them what wax I use. Now I have to say "don't believe what any wax or polish dealer tells you, it won't last that long" I always try to polish every two months or so. You can travel to the mountain tops in Tibet and buy polish from the Dali Lamma and I really don't think its any better.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
I agree, that the paint HAS to be clean, either with a clay bar or a buffing with a buffing compound. I can do a whole truck in 45 minutes, that is on and off with a little work on the small crevices. I found that the orbital polisher makes the work go faster.
I used to use the Nu-Finish and found that what I now use better. I found the Shinemaster a surprise. |

I have used a product called Adams. they have waxes polishing compounds clay bars, litteraly everything you could ever need. I personally know a distributor of the product. i have been around cars my entire life and this is by far the best product i have ever used. everyone i know uses it they all LOVE it. its worth a try. it goes on smooth and comes off even smoother. You can get the wax from most snap-on tools dealers. or on-line @ http://www.adamspolishes.com/. but if you look up your local snap on guy i will bet he has some or knows how to get u some. the butter wax as its called is only about $20 for one bottle

I have been a supporter of the Mothers line of products for years. Their mag polish can't be beat. For tires, I am currently using the Armor All Gel.

Re: Whats The Best Wax Really?
OK, I couldn't remember what it was called, so I went home lat night & checked it out. Then I came in this morning & searched the web. FOUND IT!
Hands down, the BEST wax I have ever used. Stuff lasts a LONG time! Collinite - Liquid Insulator Wax (No. 845) This heavy duty liquid wax was originally developed for use by electric power companies for protection against high voltage power failures. It's primary use is on the finishes of automobiles, trucks, buses and airplanes where durability, high gloss and lasting protection are paramount. An excellent choice for fleet applications and very easy to use--requires minimum rubbing or buffing. Clear coat safe.

I have been saving my ear wax for years in little jar, I got a theory that would be a killer wax. I will keep you guys posted when I have enough to do the whole truck.
