Stagger wheel size or not? 18" & 20" or 20" all the way, What do you think? This is the only thing between me and a new set of wheels. Any Ideas or oppinions are welcome.

I did the staggered sizes because I was going to drive everyday & didn't want to worry about potholes tearing up the front rims/tires. I would prefer the same diameter wheels all the way around but it's tough to get the right size needed up front & not be too big because you're limited by manufacturers sizes.

If you can get the wheels in the right widths, 255-40/20's on 8.5's & 295-40/20's on 10's work very well & the fronts should survive common road conditions.

Wat size tires are you running? It looks like I can get a 18c8 for the front and a 20x8.5 for the rear, no 20x9.5 or 10 option

Biggies and smalls all the way. Looks really good on these trucks. I am going to run 18 and 20's.

I have 18x8 5.25" BS w/245-45/18's up front & 20x10 5.00" BS w/295-40/20's in the back.

My fronts drag the a-arms more than I care for & on the 73-up body style you can get away w/less BS & still keep the wheel 'tucked' fairly well. IMO
5.00" front BS would work better for my 74 but I already had the wheels from another project.

I have 18-8 w/4"bs front and 20 9.5 w/4.5bs on the rear on order. I have always liked the was 18's and 20's look...

What rims and size tires are you going with?

I ordered some centerlines about a month ago, new wheel and they are still building them.. Not for sure on the tire size but i'm thinking 275 40 20's and maybe a 255 45 18? Not real sure yet..

Wich ones did you order? I am thinking about ordering the Voltage series. I'm not crazy about the rear backspacing though and rim size 20x8.5 withe a 5.4 BS. They donot offer these rims in a 20x9.5 or 10 unfortunately

Have you recieved you rims from Centerline?

Has anyonE stuffed a 315 35 20 under the rear of a 67-72 w/o mods? I think my wheel will be too narrow but a 12.5" tire is great ...

You would want 11 ~ 12" wheels for that tire. W/some mini-tubs & the right front wheel/tire to compliment, it would look nice.

I have the 315/35/20s but I widened my rear tubs to make it work, plus I am running a narrower rearend. IIRC the stock wheel tub is only 11.5" on the inside so the 315 just won't fit.

I was going to order the 295 wide but my tire guy thought we should try the 315 first. He was right. I thought I would need a wider than 10" wheel but it actually fits really well, the sidewall is vertical, not pulled back like I suspected it may be. This is a 20x10 with 3" BS.

I am running 18x8 up front with 4.5 BS and 255/45s. Sorry no side picts yet, garage is too small for that!

I was checking out the centerline website and noticed the price went up on the softtails $50.00 nearly for every size wheel

They already have my money so i think i'm locked in... They sure do run that card fast when you order ... Did you get your center caps figured out? I wonder if i'll have the same problem... I'm gonna call them today and see if they know how much longer until they are done..

Yeh, It looks like I may have to turn down my rotors or find some that are at a smaller diameter so the cap will fit over them. I'm going to call a local machine shop today and see what they say.

It looks like the 5" bs on the 18x8 front wheels will work fine. but I am going to use a wheel adaptor on the rear maybe 1-1/4". The actual wheels look really nice better that expected. can't waint to mount some tires and get them on ther truck.

Ok, resurrecting this thread because I have some driving time on my truck now.

I am running the stagger 20 rears/18 fronts. For the look I wished I had gone with 20s on the front, but now that I am driving the truck and have found what air pressures I like, I am glad that I have 18s. I say this because even with the 18s the tires are pretty close to the inner fenders at 82-85 psi, about 2.5" I'd say. If I was running 20s with this pressure I'd be near 1.5" before bottoming out. I have driven the truck with 90-95 psi in the front and its just too rough riding for my tastes.

Of course, this would not be an issue if you don't run the stock inner fenders. If anyone would like pictures of my truck at ride height, I will be happy to shoot the appropriate picts and post them...

I plan to run 18"/20" staggered, I test fitted 20's on all 4 corners, see
pic below, but aired out I did not like the looks of the front. And I plan
to have mine drivable aired out, just in case of them oh chit situations.

That's air'd out, 2.5" spindles, tall cups, on snubbers in rear, no c-notch

Yea i agree, i like 18 and 20's.. Just have to decide on tires now...
