Question spindle question

hey the truck i bought recently is a 68 but it has been converted to 5 lug disk in the front my prob is i dont know what the front end is from i heard there is a diffrence between the 71-72 and the 73-87 spindles is this right and how do i know what i have i want drop spindles and springs in the front but want to order the right ones any ideas or comments?

i found out this weekend i got all 72 stuff under the front i ordered 5 inch drop springs for the rear now just need some drop spindles was also wodering anyone ever cut just a bit out of a front coil i want 3.5 spindles and like 1 inch springs,ive cut some springs before but cut out one coil and it was like a 3 inch drop so i figure cut about a 1/4 out might be right any ideas or just breakdown and buy 1.5 inch drop spring?????????????

Nobody makes bigger than a 3" drop spindle. Not that I'm aware of anyway. And yes buy the coils, it's not worth your saftey to cut them or heat them. Coils are CHEAP.

will 73 and up spindles fir and work right for 71-72 front end?

Yes they will work, but you have to change upper ball joints and outer tie rod ends to 73.
