How much is it worth?
I know that this form is for 73-87 trucks but I thought I would ask anyway. I found a truck with the following specs:
Year - 1970 Make - GMC Model - 1500 Custom Motor - 350 w/ over 100k miles original Trans - TH400 Not Original Bed Type - Longbed Wideside They say that the truck runs and drives fine, it has the original two tone paint, white top and red or orange body. It is a pretty solid truck that came form Kentucky, but it does have rot in the areas like the front fenders where the dirt and leafs etc, would sit, and also the bed sides. The floors are solid and it has factory A/C, it doesn't work but all of the components are there for it, it doesn't have the original radio. The inner fenders also have some holes in the inner fender. What would you say it is worth? I have a book (2001 edition) that says the following: Parts truck - $500 Restorable Condition - $1,500 Good Condition - $2,550 Very Good Condition - $5,100 Fine Condition - $8,900 Excellent Condition - $16,700 Thanks |

Re: How much is it worth?
First off to the board, This is a GR8 place to be.
Personally I do not like to give suggestion without pic's even then pic's do not tell the story that being there in person does. I will just modifiy the way I think of things but remember this is personal opinion. AND there are always gray areas and location will change these figures also. MODEL i.e. long, short bed/special package CST, CUSTOM CAMPER, WEIGHT CLASS 1/2 to 3/4 ton will all make things different from this catch all list also. RUNNING DRIVING OR NOT THAT LITTLE CAN BE SAVED BODY WISE Parts truck - $FREE$ to $700 COMPLETE RUNNING DRIVING NEEDS METAL REPAIR (THIS IS WHAT YOUR TRUCK SOUNDS LIKE) Restorable Condition - $700 to $1,500 JUST NEEDS SOME WORK BUT OTHERWISE Good Condition - $1,500 to $3,000 EVERYONE HAS A DIFFERENT OPINION ON VERY GOOD AND HOW MUCH THEY WILL PAY Very Good Condition - $3,000 to $5,000 I CONSIDER THIS AS THE NEXT STEP BEFORE SHOW QUALITY BUT STILL A NICE DRIVER AND AGAINE THIS IS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE Fine Condition - $5,000 to $15,000 SHOW QUALITY IN EVERYWAY DOWN TO THE STICKERS AND PRICECAN BE ANYWHERE HERE FROM WHAT YOU LIST TO ABSURD 6 DIDGIT FIGURES Excellent Condition - $16,700 HOPE IT HELPS RJ22...

Hello and welcome to the board. This is the 67-72 board, actually. So,you`re in the right place. The problem is,you must subscribe to post a "what`s it worth" thread or even ask. It`s in the rules that you clicked "agree" to.Yopu might want to go ahead and read them to avoid being put on the spot like this, sorry.

Re: How much is it worth?
Actually if he wants to know what to offer for the truck, that's not against the rules.

He's not looking to sell, he's looking to buy. Not against the rules as I see it..

Re: How much is it worth?
Yes, I'm looking to buy the truck, the price seems a little high even for an origional truck, because of all that rot.

Re: How much is it worth?
I see nothing wrong with your wanting some help with what this truck is worth. When I joined the same thing happened to me.
As far as the truck goes send pictures as RacinJason said it would be easier to give an opinion that way. esll.

Re: How much is it worth?
Here are some pictures of the truck, I only got three because the cameria died. The passanger side rot it worse but the panels are repairable. The doors are starting to go around the bottom, the passanger door has a hole at the bottom corner of the door. Also the rain gutter paint is starting to crack and rust.

Re: How much is it worth?
Well,it`s not "all" original paint if any is.I guess they meant original color, maybe.I`d say $1,500-$2,500 if it`s as good as listed. What part of the contry are you located in?That plays a part. The places I see rust are unusual places to have be the only rust. It`s hard to believe the typical rust-out places would be good, yet these areas that rarely rust are.I think the rust is worse than lead to believe and wouldn`t be too excited about paying as much as $1,500.

Re: How much is it worth?
I was asking where "you" are.In other words, are you in an area where it`s hard to find a truck with little rust?Or an area where rust is not a problem.A truck like that wouldn`t be very desireable in a rustfree/low rust area.In places like Michigan or New York it would be considered a decent truck. The value varies because of that.

Re: How much is it worth?
It`s real easy for ME to do.I`m blind in one eye and can`t see out the other. Not real smart.I just do the best I can with the mind the good lord gimme.
Truly, there 77,if it`s where you can look at it,look harder at the problem areas. If you`re just looking at pictures and it`s a trip away, you should ask for pictures of those areas and ask specifically about them and what repairs were done.I believe I`d walk away, since it appears they are misrepresenting it to me. I hope this helps.

Re: How much is it worth?
Looks like a decent truck so far, if the truck runs, and depending on what shape the rest of it is in it would be worth about $1500 to $2500 to me.
