Blazer Tank Install?

I did a search, but never found any pictures or explanations I was looking for (lots of Fuel Cell stuff, but not a ton of blazer. Anyways, I'm in the middle of installing a poly tank in my 72 LWB, and need to know how to hook it up. Here's what I have, but can you tell me what goes where?



Here's the stock fuel lines under the cab, but where do they hook on the tank?


And here's the hardware. The straps came curved around in the box, and I flattened the one out and curved the other one the way I thought it should be. Look right? And should I put some rubber between the straps and the tank? Also, how do those weird bolts work and do they usually come with an extra lock ring and O-ring?



I think that's about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

may be wrong but the one i put in the wifes 72 i blocked off(on the tank) 1 and 2, 3 goes to your pump and used 4 for a vent, i took a differential vent, on about a 16 inch hose and run it up the frame a little and secured it.i did away with the vapor canister.

As I see it not sure if I am right but I have been looking into this setup but with keeping the vapor canister:
1. or 4. vapor line to canister
2. vent for filler neck
3. fuel supply line to fuel pump
1. or 4. fuel return line from fuel pump

If you follow the lines that are on your truck you be able to figure out what they go to. Hope it helps.

Sweet deal guys! I was thinking that's how it went but I wasn't sure.

Now, how do the straps work? Do I drill holes in my frame and just use conventional bolts to mount it, or how do I use those funny bent bolts? Also, should I put some sort of rubber between the straps and the tank? And did I bend the strap right? Thanks!

i just used reg. bolts the same size as the "j" bolts. i just bolted it up to the frame. i can't remember if i had to drill holes or not, i don't think that i did.

muddpile - do you have a long or short bed? do you have a step or fleet side? I have a short step side and I have been trying to figure out what in the hell I'm going to do with the filler cap. If I keep it on the side a t a 45 degree, any kind of neck interferes with the frame rail. eventually, I will get an aluminum fuel cell. as for now, I was wondering about buying a top of tank recessed filler neck with cap and hiding it under the wood planks (capping off the side fill of course). lift the wood, fill the tank, drop the wood and everything is clean. hoping this may also save the wood, i.e. no damage from any gas spill. what do you think?

Turned out great guys! I haven't plumbed it or figured a filler system yet, but it's mounted good and solid. I glued rubber between the tank and steel straps, and between the tank and frame rails for wear and rattles. I used regular bolts and had to drill all my holes, as there were none.

The truck is a LWB fleet, steel floor. I have no real idea as to what I'm going to do for a filler. Anyone have any suggestions? I want it accessible so I can fill reasonably fast.

Can't do the marker light filler unfortunately, as I have flush-mount firebird lights. I really like the idea, but it won't work on this one.
