BB Corvette Exhaust Manifolds?

Has anyone tried using Big Block Corvette exhaust manifolds on their 67-72 truck. Thinking it might be a decent alternative to headers if they will fit? Better than stock manifolds anyway.

If anyone has tried this let me know,

Thanks

Here is a set for the 70-74 models. The turnout is a little different on the drivers side.

Re: BB Corvette Exhaust Manifolds?

I ordered them from Midway Auto Supply online. They are made by Dorman and are $130 to $140 each plus free shipping.

The Dorman Part #s are: DOR-674-505 (pass side)
DOR-674-506 (drivers side)

If you buy the ones from the Vette suppliers with the correct GM stamp they go for about $600 each!

Re: BB Corvette Exhaust Manifolds?

It will be about a week before I get these on for a test fit. I will be installing new motor mounts too. I have the 72 factory BB stuff on there now but the pass side is sagging pretty bad. So new rubber replacements are on the way for both sides.

Re: BB Corvette Exhaust Manifolds?

I got the manifolds in this evening. I got started but nothing for sure yet. I am going to remove the pass side header tomorrow (drivers side is out) then install the new motor mounts. Both engine mounts are sagging pretty bad. Hopefully I will have something for you guys tomorrow evening!

i will be paying attention to this -- those will look better on my stock 454 engine swap than headers--- i hope they work well for you

Re: BB Corvette Exhaust Manifolds?

Well they aint gona work.

The drivers side fit well, but would have required some trimming on the top of the motormount. About 3/4" would need to come off the top back corner of the part that stays on the block. This side manifold actually fit very well.

The pass side would only require 1/4" trimed off the pass side mount in the same place, but the exhaust would dump right into the frame rail. It is real tight and a lot of lines would have to be moved and I am not willing to cut the frame at all.

The engine is jacked up in the pictures. If it was set down the pass side would dump into the frame.

The bottom pic shows what would need to be trimmed on the mounts, but the right side manifold just isn't going to work.
