Re: Ouch

Why does it have a 402 with 400 badges??? Is that typically a half ton motor or what, I was under the impression that the big blocks came in the three quarter tons.

Pretty sure 1/2 tons could come with the 400 badges with the engine being a 396 or 402 depending on year, but trucks like this bring up another question for me. Weren't all "Supers" two toned, or could you get that option solid? I've seen alot of "Super" trucks being sold in solid colors lately. I like both types, but I'd like to know if there was a standard or option for color with the Supers.

YUP, Steering wheel, radio knobs, and cup holder center console!!!! Those are all wrong for the package and the year. Nice restoration though

Re: Ouch

only becouse the seller claims it is a Concours Restoration ... I will pick to this degree;
Wood in bed should be painted, not varnished
Stainless steel metal strips in bed are not correct.
strikers in door jambs should be natural, not painted
Radio knobs as mentioned
Console as mentioned
Wheels/tires
Stainless tailgate handle cover missing
Chrome exhaust tips
Steering wheel as mentioned
Floor mats aren't correct
A/C vents should be the color of the column if I'm not mistaken
wrong tilt and turn signal levers on column
Wrong PERNDLE (PRND21 indicator)
Hinges and latch parts under hood should be neutral, not black
in correct battery
wrong style hose clamps (99% sure)
rear license plate bucket wrong shade of silver, should be darker.

I'd like to see the SPID... looking at the VIN plate, it looks like the truck used to be white.
Again, THEY said Concours Restoration ... that means EXACTLY as it was the day it rolled off the assembly line, no more, no less.

Now, with all that being said... that is a bad ass truck!
The 402 COULD in fact be had in a 1/2 ton... in ANY truck except 4X4. And... the 400 badges are corerect for that engine. The 400 badge would NOT be correct for a 396, they had 396 badges.
I can't recall off the top of my head if a super would be required to be 2 tone... they DID come with both upper and lower trim as seen on that truck. This one doesn't have the divider trim for the white roof top... interesting point indicating this truck may have never been 2 tone, however, I am curiouse if it is a real super anyways.

I am really impressed by your level of expertise concerning restorations and these trucks in general, that's the kind of stuff that truly impresses me.

Re: Ouch

She's sweet! As far as the 2 tone goes, I have seen several Supers that were solid black. Yep not concours but everything looks top notch. Probably a low to mid 20K truck in all reality. Of course it's for sale by a dealer so that price is the starting point for negotiations. I'd love to have it in my driveway with some bags and big rims! I wonder if he wants to trade even for a swb K10??

I went to the sellers website, it has a provision for you to "make offer" on this one! It just needs a white roof and I would have a big block SEE TEN!

A little off subject would a 383 get some 350 badges or would it be totally wrong. Was thinking about it but don't want to be one of those that get jokes on for putting on wrong markings.

Very sharp truck. Surprised no one noticed the van am/fm radio. I think andy mentioned most of the other things i noticed.
cameeks, as far as the 383 badges, you may as well start looking at some mopars... 292,350, 366, 396 or 400 were the badges for these trucks. There was also a 427 badge that went on the hood of the bigger trucks

Thumbs up Re: 72 Cheyenne C10 Super-Ouch-Ebay-

I see two or three box's of parts being delivered by UPS. If this truck was being sold for $25,000 to 30,000 It would be a real deal. Aside from the s/s exhaust we have bolt on items that would detail this truck to what the owner claims it to be a "Concours Restoration." No big deal in my books.

The concern that I would have is the mech. components being #'d correct and rebuilt properly. If this was done to the proper specifications this would be an easy fix truck. The fact that he over stated the description of his truck gives a guy an edge to deal with the price in such cases. Heck you might even work a deal that the guy would come down to the point that the parts to make this truck correct end up costing squat. The new/old parts that were wrong can also be sold to recoupe the cost of the new parts.

Re: Ouch

It may be that it is a big block and I am more familiar seeing a small block but something just doesn't look "right" in the pic of the front view of the engine. It is like an incorrect alternator bracket and alternator, or something missing in the engine brackets, I don't know.

very nice looking truck though, I would be that proud of it as well if it were mine. I would have to have seat belts in it though to drive it.

Re: 72 Cheyenne C10 Super-Ouch-Ebay-

these trucks are getting really high, we should be happy! that is a nice truck that just needs a little straightening out, but wouldn't be that big a deal. i know of several trucks that have gone for $50k plus (i'm not blowing smoke) but were without a doubt absolutely over-restored and correct in every detailed. i personally think it is a $30k truck. just my .02. As an example, the early classic enterprises franchise truck (red/white 72) just sold for $55k. i know this for a fact. a friend of mine hauled it to tennessee. if you look at the truck shops web page, it's on it now. they sell trucks as well and get the big money. i know of another parts place that builds them and gets the big money too. they aren't dealers though, they know how to locate buyers and market them through their business. and my buddy told me the ece truck wasn't all that nice, it's been done a long time, they just were in a position to market it. but it is good for us, kinda like barrett-jackson, they are driving the price of our trucks up, good for owners i guess, and bad for buyers.

Buckets never came with houndstooth and the gas tank cover looks a little different, it should be carpet doubled over and screwed into the sheet metal below the rear glass.

Wouldn't an original big block truck have come with a Dana 60 rear and not a 12 bolt? It would be interesting to see the SPID that is in this one.

Re: 72 Cheyenne C10 Super-Ouch-Ebay-

i agree with it being a nice truck---but definitly not a concours ride, and 1000point to boot, i think it's like my own truck, a factory super with a bunch of options added. to someone without knowledge of 67-72 trucks, i'm sure they would love to own it--hell, i'd love to own it. my only complaint is it is being advertised incorrectly. it's worth 25-30k if it's done right, at least thats what it would cost around here to build it.

Re: 72 Cheyenne C10 Super-Ouch-Ebay-

I think the truck has the wrong muffler bearings, This is a very nice truck but I'm not sure I would pay that kind of money. If it was an original low milage truck with factory options such as mentioned...then maybe. This is why we need to do some investigation before we buy. To me if one advertises as a Concours Restoration truck...then by George it should be as stated. IMO
