Bleeding brake Question

Fellas i was drivin my truck around and but my foot on the brake pedal and the petal went all the way to the floor, my friend told me there is air in the system and that i need to bleed the brakes, im still new to the classic chevy scene any advice on how to bleed brakes. Any advice or tips is much appreciated.

First I would check all your lines to see if it's leaking anywhere.
If it was fine before and all of a sudden started going to the floor,something happened to get the air in there. You will need to fix that before ya bleed'em
You can have someone pump the pedal and hold while you crack the bleeders to let the air out or you can buy a vacuum pump at the store and draw the fluid out. Do yourself a favor and buy a Haynes or Chilton book, It'll explain alot of stuff with pic's

sounds like you've got a serious problem a leak in the system/ either leaking at one of the wheel cylinders or calipers or master cylinder// you need a major $$$$$ overhaul of the brake system

this would be a great time to invest the $25 for a factory service manual,available from most board vendors. if you do your own brake job it will save you hundreds of dollars

It seems that your master cylinder died. But before you start buying parts, check to verify that there are no leaks.

Sort of scary! And potentially dangerous... Had that happend to me.

As mentioned above, if no leaks, suspect your master cylinder. Usually air in the brake lines will make them feel spongy and you can quickly pump the pedal to stop... On mine, it was a fairly fast downward plunge! I pumped it a few times and somewhat recovered, but I drove straight to the parts store.

Good advice. Bleed your brakes. If problem still exists plug off ports to front and rear brakes on MC using solid plugs Try brakes. if not firm mc leaking. If firm hook up fronts. if firm ok. do the same to rear. if not would be rear. Etc.

yup mine did this with no leaks, was the mc. pretty easy fix. good luck be safe.
