1968 C-30 dually..I finally found one I wanted
I have been looking at these on and off for years, I wanted a shorter wheel base so I could fab a longhorn bed on it without a lot of chassis work.
I stumbled on this one Monday and it was mine shortly there after. 1968 C-30..114K miles V-8 2 bbl...probably a 307 from the looks of the oil filler tube. I cant see #'s 4 speed granny power steering power brakes Add on AC low miles and moslty original (engine and interior have not been touched. Runs like a top!!!!!! I'd like to have one with a Holmes 440 wrecker body on it. Nice find.

Nice truck.Wish I had room and $$$ for a tonner.BTW I agree with ChevLoRay,I would really like to have one as an old school wrecker and the Holmes 440 fits the bill perfectly.

I have a couple of 68's and I always hope they are 327's........they always turn out to be 307's in the 68s . I cant see the #'s because of the AC compressor but I will get under there tomorrow and find out.

Re: 1968 C-30 dually..I finally found one I wanted
The harmonic balancer is real thin on a 307 (I know that's not a guarantee) and the 327 is usually a little smaller than the smallest 350 balancer. Now, are you totally confused?

Re: 1968 C-30 dually..I finally found one I wanted
Very cool, I cant say I have ever seen AC in a 1 Ton before, Most folks wouldnt have shelled out the dough for it in a work truck.
There has been one for sale around here for 900 bucks for a while. Its pretty decent. I have to force myself not to go buy it. The price of plates in Illinois is the deciding factor. It would cost me $160 just for plates plus another 100 bucks for title transfer.
