its really fine threaded. so if it seems like its turning and not moving, it is moving but very slowly. keep turning it until it comes off. if not the its already in fact ready to come off so just pull it off.

Re: How can I remove the ignition switch....???
You'll need to place a paper clip into the hole by the key hole, turn the key to the ACC position, then press the clip in as you try to turn the key further left... some pulling may be involved also.
Once that comes out, you can continue to unscrew it like you've been doing. |

Re: How can I remove the ignition switch....???
No key..............unplug the harness from the back of the switch, take a saw zaw and from behind the dash cut the switch in half, remove the parts and buy another switch assembly from a board member or ebay.
get the door locks to match since your are doing it. Problem solved

Re: How can I remove the ignition switch....???
Ahhh - been there done that...
If you don't have the key - you can pry the small metal face off of the ignition key cylinder (the part where the key would go) - and then just replace the switch and the key cylinder. Or - there are instructions on this forum from 'LockDoc' to remove the switch and key cylinder from the car without damaging either part, but it is a difficult procedure which also takes some lockpicking to do it correctly. I searched for the link to the forum message that had the link in it... http://members.zumatel.net/dgpurdum4...formation.html Good luck... |
