tilt column questions

Hey guys, question for the 73 - 87 experts...
Are the tilt columns worth much to you guys?
Did they chainge at all in the 14 years they run this body style?
If so, when was the break, and what was the chainge? (I'd guess wiper switch)

Any added info I forgot to ask would be cool.

I see quite a few of these tilts in the local yards, and plenty of them are even tight... so i wanted to see if there was any money to be made on this.

Re: tilt column questions

They are basically the same, but had two major changes. In 77 or 78, the main plug on the side was changed, but is easy to swap. If you are going to grab one out of a junkyard, just cut the wiring harness after the main long plug on the side of the column. The wipers went to the turn signal stalk in 84. Also, if you find a floor shift tilt column, those are more desirable to some folks looking to convert to floor shift.

Re: tilt column questions

I'd just pull some out and put them on e*ay or craigslist and see what kind of action you get. One thing though, i would not cut the harness, remove them at their connections, I say this because if i were a buyer i'd rather plug it in instead of splicing wires. Also get a variety w/ and w/o cruise control and I think the headlights on the column are more desired than the floor one.

So there's my 2 cents, hope it helps.

Re: tilt column questions

I meant cut the harness of the donor truck, to get extra wiring. Don't cut teh wiring going into the column.
