Lost interest in my 69 SWB

I've had this truck for 20 years. Over the years I had the Drop Shop in Portland shorten the frame. I found a cherry bed for it but never got t painted. I installed a crate 285 HP motor with a new factory 700R4. I dropped it with Early classis spindles. I converted it to 5 luge axles with front disc. I did all the hard work. It still needs wheels ans paint. Truck has no rust and has always been garaged since new.

The last few years I got involved in off roading. The C-10 took a back seat. I washed the dust off of it today and took it for a drive. It drives like a dream. I just don't have the time to finisher her. What to do?

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

Sounds like you want to sell her...but are flirting with the board rules for posting for sale threads and not a subscribing member. If I'm wrong, sorry...but that's the way I interpeted your post.

Let me ask you...what do you think you want to do with her???

I think you should keep it. I only wish my truck looked like that. JMO but I'd think you'd regret it once it was gone.

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

Well, my kids have little interest in cars.

67-72 trucks have consumed most of my life, I've had many including a new one I bought in 72 when I got out of VietNam.

Just glad I have a shop big enough to keep her safe.

If all it's doing is taking up space, keep it. She is super nice, and once you sell it you will almost always regret it.

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

You`ve lost interest,but...
That`s not to say you don`t like it anymore.right? You haven`t stopped liking 67-72s either, right?I`ve always had at least one in my drive since`73 when I bought an "OK"`72 from a Chevy dealer lot. When I think about it,I just can`t phathon not having one at this point.Just because your time is going into another direction, don`t take for granted how lucky you are to have that shorty willing and waiting in your building. As long as money`s not the issue,I`d let that thing be a time capsule in waiting.I`ve mostly been into 4wds,but want a cruiser like yours as well.Variety...the spice of life.

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

My two cents worth.
I own a 1968 C10 with a 355HP 327. It is a dream to drive, and still fairly easy to work on. It took me a little over 8 years to finally buy one that wasn't thrashed or overpriced, I have had it for 4 years now. Time wise, no comparison, but it is still a part of the family.
I also own a couple jeeps, one is a 1965 CJ5A Tuxedo Park, a rare jeep, and the other is afabricated conversion of a Jeep truck, like that of the AEV Brute, or that of the Gladiator concept.
I have raced down the highway as well as rock crawled. Both are fun.
Time is my only enemy now, since I have a family of 8. I haven't burned out yet, just put priorities more forward.
I don't know if this was of any help, but at least it is a little something to take into consideration when you make your decision. Good luck.

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

If you want to find a new home for it pay your $25 and list it on the sales board. I've no doubt it will sell quickly.

Personaly -- I would keep it if it wasn't crowding me out or something ... it's always good thing to have a clean, strong running truck around.

Turn it into a DD, or keep it in the family. Don't let that truck go.... many guy's on the board, including myself, would love to have a truck like that in our driveways. (not even to mention a shop to keep it covered)

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

I only wish my 68 was that nice. It probably doesn't cost much to keep it,(registration and all) I'd keep it on the back burner. A truck that nice doesn't come along very often..

Re: Lost interest in my 69 SWB

when i was about 8 my dad bought a 50 model 5 window, by the time i was 11 we were done restoring at it. he would talk about selling it so i would either wash it or take it to my house when i got a house so he would either want to keep it or forget about it. he eventually gave it to me. if you want i could keep it at my place for a while! haha!

Well, since this isn't a "for sale" post... ... It sounds like you already know what the plan is given the details you gave of the truck. Looks like an awesome start for a project in my eyes.

Keep it, its got a gun rack!

That sure is a clean truck, you would miss it Im sure.

You have been here long enough to know the rules...

Rule #1... You can't sell a 67-72, you can only buy more...

What should you do? take more pictures. that side/ rear end view is just a teaser.
