OT- need motor help
I have an '85 buick regal with a 305 in it. The guy before me cut off the emmisions stuff and chucked it. I was wondering how much of a difference this stuff makes in performance and gas mileage, if any? I would like to put the stuff back on because the car is starting to blow blue and smell of gas a bit.

It depends on a lot of things. If you have some sort of EFI then the emissions stuff may interact with the computer to deliver fuel. I doubt the problems your seeing now have anything to do with the absence of the emissions stuff. You will undoutedly get more performance w/out the emissions added. Check your heads. Sound like you could have some bad valve seals. You can get a decent set of high flowing heads with an intake and carb. Leave the emissions off and get a pbetter performing engine for it.
