What should it cost?
I am thinking of having my 12 bolt rear gone through. Worst case, what should it all cost?

Re: What should it cost?
I had mine done and I purchased all the parts and I spent about $1100.00
I put a Auburn posi, 3:48 rear gears, new axels , installation kit and the labor. The labor cost me $250.00 to install all the parts in a bare rear end that I took all the guts out and cleaned. |

Re: What should it cost?
I just picked mine up on friday and it was $1381.54 and here is what they did.
I droped off a complete rear end out of the truck and they pulled it down and cleaned it out. Then they replaced all seals and bearings, put in 3.43's with an Eaton posi, new 30 spline axle's and reasembled it with read line 85/145 oil (I think that was the weight) and a bottle of friction modifier. They put new studs in the axels and put all the brakes back on as well. Kevin LFD Inc. |

Re: What should it cost?
I'm glad I have the tools to rebuild axles myself...a rebuild is pricey..You know this is your chance to swap out the 12 bolt for a 14 bolt and convert the front to 8 lug for more beef..

Re: What should it cost?
But now I am thinking of selling the truck, and going to a Blazer for the family. Then looking for a 67' small window, which is what I really would like to have. Why burn the axles on a truck I might sell..? It is just my thoughts now. I might also keep the 71', and if I do I will most definetly upgrade to atleast 3/4 ton, 1 ton if I can find the coveted D60 for a price I can go with. These rock crawlers have driven the price of those things here in the west to almost stupid prices.
