Trans crossmember question?
Is the automatic transmission crossmember the same from a powerglide to a TH350/400 transmission? I'm sure they are in different mount locations, BUT, Are they the same crossmember?

uh... well I can tell you that the crossmembers between a standard and an automatic are different!

Re: Trans crossmember question?
Should be the same crossmeber automatic trans wise. I think the only difference was in the rubber mount and the loaction the crossmember was bolted in. So just bolt it in where you need it and get the mount specified for the specific trans you are using.

Re: Trans crossmember question?
I have a guy that needs a TH350 crossmember tomorrow... I have one that I pulled out of a Powerglide truck, but it's sold with the Powerglide trans... But, I have another parts truck with a A/T (TH350) trans crossmember in it. The powerglide guy won't be here for awhile...
SO... If they are the same, I'm going to sell this guy (needs it tomorrow) the crossmember I have out (out of the Powerglide truck), and take the one from the parts truck (TH350) for the powerglide sale... Did everyone follow that?

Re: Trans crossmember question?
I'd see if the 350 guy wants to help you take it out if he's in that big of a hurry. Otherwise you could have 2 unhappy campers.

Re: Trans crossmember question?
67 cst swb: This morning I compared a 68 powerglide trans x-member side by side with a 71 th-350 x-member and seen nothing different between the two. I was already almost 99% sure of this but I had recently parted both so a side by side comparison on the shop floor was a easy way to answer that other 1%. Cb
