Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
I have them also. Didn't have to do any mods. Just bolted them on and lowered the engine. Sure beats the other type......

I wonder if the painted ones are only available in blue?

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
the ones i got were black, the other choice was chrome but they peaked the budget a little too much and I figured nobody would see them anyway so i went with powdercoated black and they look really good in my opinion.

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
So, this style can be used instead of trying to find the original and pay for the high $$$$$ 1972 only big block motor mounts to get the newer style motor mounts?
Has anyone that has used the tubular style had clearance problems with headers and or the clutch z-bar. I have a 396 that i want to put into a 1970 K20 with sbc, manual trans and of course i'm tryind to find the easiest and most cost effective method. |

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
Probably an ignorant question...what is the benefit of these mounts? Fix clearance issues?

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
I purchased them all for looks. I have heard that it helps with some clearance issues, just don't know for sure

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
I have them in my 68.
SBC w/some 3/4 length Camaro headers. Fit seems good & there were no clearance issues. Truck hasn't been on the road yet for any other experiences.

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
The item description at www.performanceonline.com states, "upgrade your old V-8 mount to the much more common car motor mount pad". What is the difference between the truck and car motor mount pad? Is it something worth upgrading?

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
I had two reasons for using them on my 67. one is because I had heard from a few people that the stock truck style ones are known for wearing out quickly and judging by the shape mine were in I totally believe them. secondly I swapped over to vortec style exhaust manifolds(got tired of tightening header bolts) and I had a clearance issue with the stock mount.here is a pic they are hard to see but you kind of get the idea.

Re: Anyone using the tubular motor mounts?
That oughta fix my pump clearence issue, I had to cut some of the tower away when I installed the bigger GMPP pump on my motor to clear the inlet fitting
