67-72 radio face on a newer radio?

i got to thinking, is it possible to put a 67-72 face on a newer easier to find 73-87 am/fm radio?

has anyone heard of this?

i have a couple nice newer am/fm radios that i wanted to put in a couple of my trucks but havnt got around to it, and then i thought about trying this.

tomorrow im gonna try it

I went to Wal-Mart about a month ago and bought their cheapest radio. It has the manual tuning knob. I had to modify the radio to expand the knob out far enough to fit through the 71 face plate . It works great !! , but I no longer have the pre-set buttons, I filled it in with a pc a black plastic.
