how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
my truck had the ziebarting/undercoating, whatever crap sprayed on it when it was new. it saved a lot, but it's on the underside of hood, inner fenders, everywhere. does anyone know of an easy way to get it off?

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
I'm in the process of doing that now, paint stripper and a gasket scrapper.
I bought the aerosal paint stripper. Spray it on and scrap it off. Then I DA sanded the left over. When it's thin it sands right off.

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
I will have to do this in the future also. On some of the parts that I have cleaned on my truck a solvent like laqure(SP) thininer, removed it with some work.

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
I would think a higher pressure steam cleaner may get it off......either way a fricken messy job!

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
Lots of Elbow Grease lol, i just did all this on my PROJECT. first i used a small propane torch, it works well. i just ran the torch on the undercoating. and scrapped it off, i then followed with paint remover. then wire burshed the whole frame, and wet sanded the frame with laquer thinner as my wet.... worked great...........

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
I used a knot style wire wheel on the end of a 4" angle grinder, and it took it right off. Very quickly too.

Re: how do you remove ziebarting/undercoating
Get a cheap heat gun from Harbor Freight and a putty knife. After you have removed 99% with that use a Scotch Brite pad and cheap mineral spirits to revmove the final film. Very quick and easy and the cleanest way...I have tried them all and always go back to this method.
