Rattle in engine

Well I just took my truck for a test drive after replacing the carb and now I notice there is a small rattle coming from the engine when I put the pedal on the floor. My alternater belt also squeaks when I step on it. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Could it be that there are some lifters loose or is it the rods? It sounds like pennies or something in a tin can. the oil pressure is good also. Just thought I would add that in.

Re: Rattle in engine

Sounds like you're pinging, aka detonation. What octane fuel are you running and how's the timing?

Re: Rattle in engine

I use the cheapest gas I can find 87 oct. and I still have to check the timing. I hope that is all it is.
