Throttle Cable
Anybody know whether a throttle cable off a 74 chevy pickup with a 350 will work on a 71 with a 350?? The length of the 74 cable is 24 inches and it appears to have the same hookup style on both ends as the 71 should. Just wonderin what I can use. Thanks

I think it is a lot longer than 71-72 cables. V-8 2wd are like 16" if my memory measures correctly.

If it's 24" from the fire wall to the carb it'll be a tad long. You could prob "loop" it around the dist.As long as there aren't any kinks in it it should work.

I could be wrong, I'm trying to reverse-engineer the best configuration for a '71 K/5 myself, but aren't the '67/'68 Throttle cables rigged to connect outside the firewall in the engine compartment, and the later '71/'71s rigged to curve around under the back of the dash and connect to the accelerator cable rod from the inside?
Have no idea how '69/'70s are rigged. On the early models the Choke is on the right and the Wiper/Washer switch on the left, above the Lights switch. On the later models, the Lights are left and Wipers on the right. Throttle knob location must be variable. The early models needing to be on the right so they can connect in the bay; the later models only need to meet under the dash, so they can be shorter, or maybe come over from the left side, under the Light switch... My big question is -- how does the throttle cable end connect to the Gas Pedal /Cable arm for a '71?
