The advantages and disadvantages of a body lift
I was working on the '72 K/5 tonight,it's got a miss so I took out the plugs, checked, cleaned them, and put them back in.The advantage of the 2" body lift it has is that with a long extension along with the ratchet I can get the ratchet right in between the frame and inner fender on #6 & #8 so they can be removed easily. That might be reason enough for me to leave the body lift on.The disadvantage is that they cut out the lower section of a perfectly good 4wd fan shroud
![]() Oh well,did I mention I have a NOS 4wd fan shroud sitting around for a rainy day? ![]() Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 10-01-2007 at 10:07 PM. |

Re: The advantages and disadvantages of a body lift
With the 2" lift the front don't look to bad.On my 71 SWB with a 3" body lift it looked worse. Here is the front bumper,it's in the stock location. The back is down to low for my liking but its going to be replaced with a better one that should fill the gap better.Other then that,it's not to bad,the frame/body gap is noticable and I dont like it but it could be worse.Other then that,I just am not use to the np205 shifter being lower to the floor with the body lift, there is no issues shifting it though.I dont know about the shifter linkages for a auto being affected with the body lift since it has a B&M shifter.
Here's a few pics so you can decide on whether you like the body lift pics..I dont know what else they did when they put the body lift on,the po that put the body lift on was from kentucky so you never know what they rigged up ![]() Last edited by 1969k10stepside; 10-01-2007 at 10:27 PM. |

Re: The advantages and disadvantages of a body lift
I post pics of my 3in body in your other post. The 2in doesnt look bad but I think Im going to use the 1in ORD on my sub this time. A body lift is a cheap way to get more lift if you already have a fift but if your going to use new springs I would just get all suspention. I guess a body lift may help with center of gravity and keep it from getting wobly in the trails with out haveing to cut the fenders as much. Im going to use one to help make room for the nv4500 Im hoping it will be enough. I will be moveing the engine forward too help as well.
