Crank pulleys.
What are you running for crank pulleys? The one on my truck was added after the PO put power steering on. it’s not inline with the water pump & alt.
I went to the wrecking yard looking for something but didn’t find anything. Anyone have suggestions? It needs to be a 3 grove to work. s/t

Re: Crank pulleys.
^Yep. I ran into this problem when adding my vintage air set-up.
Basically, the groove closest to the balancer should be AGAINST the balancer if you have a short water pump set up (which is what you would want if you have factory power steering). If your pulley groove closest to the balancer is about an 1" away from the balancer, it's for a long water pump. This is a pic of a long water pump set up. The second is hard to see, but my new SWP set up, the pulley groove is against the balancer.

Re: Crank pulleys.
Also, the third groove is kind of an add on. Trucks that came with the two groove pulley had the power steering pulling is an add on that goes over and inside the two groove pully (at least the ones I've seen have).
You're probably having a hard time finding the pulley at a yard because all 73+ trucks used a long water pump. You'd need to find an original swp set up.... or go to Jegs or ebay...

Scan the parts board. People jump fast on AC brackets when somebody posts that they are parting an AC truck. After that dust settles ask if you can buy the crank pulleys. You may as well get the waterpump pulley too. That way you know you got a matched set.

Re: Crank pulleys.
It’s a short water pump & the pulley is against the Harmonic balancer. The first grove needs to be 5/8inch from the face of the harmonic balancer to match the water pump pulley.
Can someone double check this measurement for me? If I shim this out I’m concerned that it will throw off my power steering alignment. I’ll get a picture up tonight. Thanks. s/t

Re: Crank pulleys.
67CRN is right....the one I have has two pulleys, then a spacer and then a third pulley. That said my alt is off a bit and it makes it squeal...gotta fix that someday.

Re: Crank pulleys.
Is it possible you have the wrong water pump pulley? Does it look like the one in my second pic?
Does your truck have A/C? Is the upper pulley single groove or double? Is your power steering off a 73+ truck or 68-72?

Re: Crank pulleys.
It’s a single pulley water pump pulley and it seems original. I’m sure the only thing that was changed was the bottom pulley, to accommodate the power steering. I don’t know what the power steering is off of, but the brackets that were used for the power steering pump were incorrect. I have the correct ones now. I plan on replacing the pump before I get this on the road. I can specify for a correct pump then. What should I ask for? (The engine is out at the moment)

Not the best pic but I used all the 76 and newer brackets and accesorys and everything lined up even being bolted to the older style harmonic damper

Re: Crank pulleys.
It sounds like the crank pulley was designed for use with the long style pump
If you dont mind paying for shipping I'll give you my original pulleys (what I have left)

Thanks for the offer Scott, I don’t mind paying and may just take you up on the offer. But can you measure from your Harmonic Balancer to the middle of your first belt? BTW- I thought the inner most pulley is for the alternator? Maybe this has something to do with your alternator being on the Passenger side? s/t

Re: Crank pulleys.
S/T here's my setup now. It should help to see what you need. I have a 2-groove wp pulley for a short water pump and a 3-groove crank pulley. My old setup in the pictures above were taken before the restoration. I had(I believe) a 2-groove wp pulley and a 2-groove crank pulley. The crank pulley had two peices. The crank pulley that turned the Water pump and alt. was directly aginst the balancer. The second piece of the crank pulley was basically an add on extension to work the power steering. Your crank pulley has three grooves. The one directly against the balancer should drive the wp and alt. The middle groove will be for A/C if you have it. The outside should drive the p/s.
I wouldn't be able to tell if you have the correct wp pulley just by seeing it. I'll try to check my old pulley in a little while to get dimensions for you. I'll try to see how long and deep the wp pulley should be. The oulley is at my dad's place, so I'll have to check it in a few minutes. Meanwhile, here some of my current setup. They are Dayco TOP COG. They are the only kind of V-belt I will buy. Don't buy cheap stuff. You get what you pay for. My brother learned this lesson with his truck. He went to Auto Zone and told them he needed new belts. They automatically gave him the cheap ones. They haven't stopped squealing after a year.

If you could put a tape measure against the face of your harmonic B, and tell me what the measurement is to the center of the first belt. (I need 5/8) in one of your pictures it look like it could be...but a mounted measurement will be best. I also checked my water pump pulley. It was within a 1/16 of your measurement. So I think it's ok. s/t

You can also check out Alan Grove. They have all dimensions listed on their site so you can determine what you need.
