Headers; What am I looking for?
I have a 350 and am looking at putting in a full exhaust, starting at the headers. and working my way back to the duals out the rear. I have looked on Jegs, jc whitney, summit, and autoparts, and am confused with the number of different headers that are out there.
What I am looking for is a set of headers that fit my truck, a 72 custom10 4x4. It will eventually have a 4 inch lift and 35's on it so clearance is not a problem. What will work? Really what I am looking for is confirmation of a good set of headers that bolt on with no problems and perform/last/sound great. I must thank you ahead of time so that you will respond to my post and give me advice. Thanks Ed

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
Go with Hedman or Hooker headers, Don't buy the cheap ones,(Dynomax,Flowtech,Summit,Jegs etc.) I got Flowtech ones and they rubbed the front driveshaft with stock suspension.

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
Thanks for the reply, I know more that one person out there has headers on their pickup. I just want to know what will fit on our trucks without any fit problems.
I have heard that some people dont like headman headers, not sure of the reason. Rock on Ed

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
I have Hooker competitions on my blazer. I have taken them off and put them on with the motor bolted in and the blazer sitting on the ground. I don't have a lift. My only complaint would be that putting the driver side back bolt in really sucks, but I think that would apply to all brands.

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
Make sure that your Primary header tube is at least 1 5/8in or bigger and long tubes only, no shorty's. also use graphite header gaskets they wont burn, they are reusable and assure a leak free seal. Car Quest sells the gaskets for around $25-28

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
I think the Headman Elites and Hooker SuperComps are a good choice. There are companies like Stans Headers and Sanderson, too. They may be more money.
Is the truck manual or auto?

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
Do the headers clear the starter, for starter access?

Re: Headers; What am I looking for?
I installed a set of Sandersons on my truck, they are high quality headers but costly. They have 3/8" flanges, and I put them on like they said with just RTV, no leaks in the first 1k miles which makes me happy.
