67 68 hub caps
I know this has been covered before, so forgive me for asking again. I just can't find previous posts on the topic.
So here it is: Does anybody have pictures of the 67,68 small dog dish type hub cap? I think they came painted or chrome. The reason I ask is I'm trying to decide whether to remain stock or go with the later rallies which I have a full set. Thanks for not giving me a bad time. I'll step aside now.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Good luck finding a nice clean set, especially the polished ones! They're getting hard to come by these days (I'm always looking for them).

Re: 67 68 hub caps
There are painted caps and polished stainless...no chrome. The polished stainless had orange accents in '67 and were black and red in '68. '68 painted caps were silver black and red. Here are some polished stainless '68 caps. The caps were available for three different style wheels...1/2 t. clips, 1/2 t. bumps, 3/4 and 1 t. clips. That made a total of 6 different style caps for each year. Below is a '68 polished stainless cap and the backs of the 3/4-1 t. (on left) and 1/2 t. (on right) caps for the clip style wheels. The 1/2 t. inner center section is smaller...the OD's are the same. So...unless you check the back of the cap...you will not know what you are getting.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Any ideas and examples for 4WD caps with holes on front 2 that will fit on the clip style wheel? I have the 16.5 X 8.25 6-lugs.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Get repro caps from the 47-54s and bore a hole. They`re like baby moons with "Chevrolet" stamped a few different ways over the years.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
The full caps, as CG posted , I believe were on the 50th anniversary gold painted addition.
The small stainless are the ones I'd like to find. Also I found out these were available in aluminum as well. The black short bed with white caps and bumpers, now that is one nice truck.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
The standard 67 hubcap was painted white and the standard 68 hubcap was painted silver, both for gmc and chevrolet.Chrome versions were also available.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
I tried to find those GMC caps 20 years ago but couldn't locate any. I couldn't even find '68 Chevy caps either, so I ended up with the ones I have now. I have painted them at least two times and when the don't fall off, they look okay.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Now that I see more stock wheel pictures the more I want mine stock.
But I'm stuck in the middle .I have a full set of Rallies that are six lug . I was going to use, but could not find six lug center caps, so me thinks GO STOCK Now I want stock 68 and can/t find those either "Hewy"

Re: 67 68 hub caps
I love the dog-dish caps...... but they are difficult to find in good shape. Most used hubcap places have the center caps for the 6-lug ralleys since they were used from 73~87 on 4x4's. The only issue would be finding 4-solid caps. Also, don't rule out the newer body style caps. The 6-lug caps for 88~98 chevy trucks will work too w/some different lug nuts.
Try e-bay as well.

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Ya SCOTI
I see a lot of the 6 lug center caps on ebay. Don't they need a different type of lug? I thought the caps are held on by a separate plastic fake lug nut?

Re: 67 68 hub caps
Good idea I'll check into that.
More choices also and probably less expensive.Seeing that I have both stock and rally rims. I can get the truck on the road easier. Thanks ( but still looking for original 68 )
