Window problems w/ my 59

Anyone ever replace sideglass using original steel framing? I am attempting it however, the rubber seal I recieved to replace the old stuff between the glass and the steel frame is way too thick. I ordered both glass and the seal from LMC. They say its the right seal but its not working even using lube on it. I then ordered the seal from Brothers and am having the same problem and it looks like the same stuff. Anybody???????

Thanks.....Paul

it's not the easiest thing to do, but it will work out for you, i use everyday oil....10/30, and so on, use a rubber hammer, LOTS of oil, and slowly work in in, once it dries it's there for life....dont give up, make it work, lots of oil is the trick.....if all else fails, i'v used an old iner tube of a tire, it works just as good.....max.

One of the best lubes for rubber I have used is lamb fat from the butcher shop. They call it mutton tallow. warm it up to liquid and then brush it on the area you want to slide together. I'd be surprised if you even had to tap it in. I learned that changing tandem bushings in Mack trucks. The nice part is it washes off with soap and water.

dishwashing soap works great. tire mounting lube also works great. hit your local tire shop up for some.
