Exclamation PLEASE HELP: how to install new ignotion switch on '84 chevy

Where is the ignition switch(not the actual ignition)located on the steering column; left, right, top? Also is it near the fire wall, or is it by the actual ignition? What do you have to do to get to it? I've tried to drop my steering column as much as I can, and I still don,t see anything that resembles the new ignition switch.

I know when you turn the key it pushes a rod that goes down the column. I'm guessing the rod stops inbetween 1/2 and 3/4's teh way down the column, so I assume that there is something there, but don't know if thats what your talking about. It also might be undneith that plastic stuff on the column. I doubt that'll help any.

The switch is right where the pedals are on the driver side in about the 10o'clock position. Follow the large mass of wires to it.
