How teeitup cost me thousands of $$$$, even though I tried to stop it!
I saw a pic (side view) of a 71 SWB Cheyenne 4X4 FS in Ore. I called the guy up & got a complete description: He is an auto tech in a shop, owned truck 16yrs, 125K miles, very original, stored inside, etc, etc.
Sounded good, so off to the bank & loaded up to go get it. This is what I saw when I pulled up: 1. Wrong grill, hood & bumper. 2. Wrong fan shroud, linkage to carb (not 71 cable), & firewall shape. 3. Wrong gas pedal, inside mirror mount. Obviously a 69-70 frontend & cab change, and the value was not as good as if it were correct, as stated. I was so ticked, I just left...didn't even start it...went home...forget it! Then it happened...Randy struck! He posted a thread WIW on a rough stepside, 6cyl, 3spd, 4x4 FS @ $4,500 firm in his area. WHOA...that got me thinking---again! Did I act too fast? What was this ORE truck worth, just as a nice little clean "unoriginal" truck? So........I went back to the bank, loaded up again and went back and bought it! |

Re: How teeitup cost me thousands of $$$$, even though I tried to stop it!
Heck,I'd be happy to have it as-is..Of course I've got the parts to make everything correct for the year so it wouldn't take long to get the right stuff on it.I think it looks good, but I'd put on a small (maybe 2" lift, maybe 4") lift, keep the stock rims and hubcaps, put on a all terrain tire (33" or so) and drive it..If you don't want it,load it up and send it my way,I'll pay for the gas to get it here

Looks like a 8k KS truck to me just looked at a similar GMC it had ben reshot in a few areas to cover faded paint they wanted 12,900 and I was able to find rust. Stuff out here everyone thinks its worth its weight in gold.
You came close to my build thread title when I get started on it "Chevy Brought To You By Teeitup Parts" Heck what else can you say about the guy great guy with all the parts to make life easy and momma unhappy |

1. Amazing bed-inside & out, always covered with canopy. 2. Perfect doors, no rust or speakers. 3. Runs & drives great! Thanks Randy! No really---THANKS RANDY! Interior is ordered...tilt & tach are ready and I think it needs some tow hooks |

I think I will keep it, but you never know.
It is good enough to be fine daily driver, but not so nice I can't just use it. I just like these short beds: 2wd, 4wd, fleets or steps. |

Re: How teeitup cost me thousands of $$$$, even though I tried to stop it!
A little comparison shopping helps sometimes,eh?I get out of shape over inaccurate descriptions. But,standing back and seeing it for what it is w/o the description helps and in the end,if the price supports the condition, that`s all that matters.

Re: How teeitup cost me thousands of $$$$, even though I tried to stop it!
Yeah, I'd really hate to be stuck with that unwanted '70 grille myself. Its not like I just bought a '70 with a '71/2 grille and bumper on it. If mine were in half the condition of yours, I'd offer to swap with you, and my sister could haul them back and forth when she comes down at Christmas. Ahh the irony.

Why do smallthings like that really matter? Come on that is a nice tuck and if you wanted to swap those would be small things.
It is a nice truck though.

As you say, everything in the truck points to it being an actual 70..... What's the VIN say?

Re: How teeitup cost me thousands of $$$$, even though I tried to stop it!
I am sure this is a '71 that has had the cab & front clip changed from a '69-70. It is a disc brake truck. The title, vin tag # and frame numbers agree, but carb linkage is a little cobbled.
The gas tank was full of rust, so it is out and a clean tank with big lines and new big pickup are ready to go back in. Of course I had to work on it first. Pulled out the seat & ragged carpet and couldn't look at the rust in kicks & rockers, so I "quickly" (ya right) laid down POR mat to at least keep the Washington rain from washing our feet going down the road. I am not going to stop & cut out & weld in new metal on a cab that WILL be replaced! I did order some new carpet, tank cover & mats all matching. ...and I cleaned & repainted the door bottoms...If you get a truck with nice solid doors and you see ANY bare metal or rust...STOP and get it protected (paint or primer or POR or something to stop it). When I get inside the doors I will also clean, sand & POR the bottoms & corners to protect them also. I sure hope this thing gets on-the-road tomorrow. I would like to drive it. |

Let me have that front bumper if you dont want it, my 70 has the 71/72 style on it.
