How to choose a FI system???

i am currently looking for a FI system and don't know where to begin to decide which one i would like to have. besides the tune port and multiport (i've done research on the meaning of that) and the most important factor $$$; for a true "dummy" how does one choose which one (company) to go with when they all sound so good. koodles to their advertising department for doing such a great job on making everything sound so good!!

I think you will want to get the one that will allow the most flexibility in tuning with current & future upgrades.
A good one should have data logging capabilities too.

Another alternative is to get a donor system from a newer car.

I obtained mine through Street and Performance in Mena, Arkansas. They have good customer service. Their website is hotrodlane.com if memory serves me correctly.

now... what about them systems that say; no tuning or no hassle with tuning; just plug and play. are those any good or are they not as good, "because" there is no tuning??

Really I guess it depends on what you want to do. My system is an OEM from an 89 Firebird. Its been upgraded to speed density so no MAF sensor. You can't really tune it per se, but you can make changes depending on what you are looking for. I wanted good gas mileage. Didn't get it. Don't know if its because I'm getting all it can give, or its the rear end combo, or what. I do like it. All the extra little parts and Computer I got from jimsperformance.com He was very helpful, has great customer service and takes care of whatever I need even now, 6 years later.

I don't know...probably depends on what you want to do with the truck. It probably will be close enough. But I imagine you would be limited if there is no ability to make adjustments.
If you do go that way, run a wide band o2, and see whats going on.

By far, the cheapest way to go would be to get a throttle body system off of a newer truck especially if what you are after is gas mileage. The after market systems are way expensive. The tuned ports are compatible with the older engines but you spend a lot of $ hooking them up. The most of the newer port injection (lt1 - ls1) systems are not compatible with the older engines.
