Rear World Measurement Request

I just did a longbed to shortbed conversion and all the measurements were correct as far as everyone can tell, but my passenger side tire is slightly closer to the cab (mount) than the driver's side. Everyone says they need to be exactly the same, and I totally agree, but... it got me to thinking...

I am wondering, just for kicks, to see how things are in the real world on an original truck. Can a few of you guys measure from a static point on the frame (not the cab which can move) back to each tire, or to the Axle itself, whatever you prefer, and tell me if your's is the same distance for each side, or how far off is it? It doesn't matter if it's a longbed or shortbed, or how long the actual measurement is really, only what the difference is between the left and right side. The results might be interesting.

So again, we all know the theory, but what IS it on our trucks? I'll start the poll with my 3/4' difference...

Thanks!

Re: Rear World Measurement Request

Hey Thomas. Did you measure your wheelbase on each side? You can also check the axle alignment by measuring from the bottom side using like one axle mounting bolt to a hole in the center of the front cross member on the bottom side. It's a triangular check. Will tell if the rear axle is farther forward on one side.

Re: Rear World Measurement Request

easy measurement for me since the bed is off, but mine is exact as well.

I looked at the thread where you cut your frame and I'm wondering how could yours be off? The other thing, why didn't just use the shortbed frame you found?

Re: Rear World Measurement Request

I measured from the rear cab mount to the axle on both sides just now and it is 1/2" different. My buddy came over other day and thought it looked right on, so maybe I'll listen to him and just rock on

The frame I got was hit in the front right corner, not bad, but enough....

I really didn't want to swap everything too.
