Rear sport bumper (stepside) question HELP!!
got my new sport bumper supports on my 69 stepside. no problem there. installed the bumper, no problem there, well maybe. when all of the hardware is tightened, the bumper is tilted OUT at the bottom by about 10 degree or about 3/8" at the top.
now the question. did the factory ever use bevel washers to level the bumper out. is that a plausable idea? I was going to cu some stainless washers, but those would create sharp edges...... and those edge can distort a bumper el-quicko. any ideas guys? bevel washers the ticket?? just a thought...the brackets are angled on the end that connects to the bumper, right? are they on the correct sides? maybe the bumper brackets you have are bent. Just some quick thoughts, hope I helped.

hold the bumper where you want it to sit, lay under it with the brackets in hand, mark the holes and drill... that way you can tuck it up close to the body

Re: Rear sport bumper (stepside) question HELP!!
here's the problem, the brackets fit perfect! I would have to cobble things up if I were to move the brackets to the correct angle. thinking the bevel washer idea may be my only out.
first pic is of the brackets from the left rear: next pic is from the underneath, looking to the right hand side: oh yeah, and I have a gripe too. if anyone buys the off the shelf Taiwanese bumper brackets, be SURE you look at the face of the brcket that meets the bumper. if it's not straight, get an agle grinder and make it straight. or..... you will install the bumper and find out that the irregular face of the bracket has caused a visible dimple in your NEW CHROME BUMPER!!!! bit p*ssed about that too......
