Carb problem???
My '70 C10 with 250 six cil. and 1 bar. carb runs great until I hit about 55mph, then any acceleration thereafter and the engine bogs down. I have to feather the accelerator to keep the speed up around 50mph or more. Does the carb need adjusted, or what?
Thanks, Tim

Have you changed your fuel filter?

Re: Carb problem???
These carbs are extremely easy to work on.
As mentioned, first check your filters. If they're dirty that will restrict the fuel flow when it's needed. Next check the fuel flow of the fuel pump. Disconnect line from the carb and place a plastic container on the end. Have some one crank it while you observe it. It should have a pretty good squirt of fuel while it's cranking. If it's just oozing out, you could have clogged up fuel lines to the pump or the pump itself may be bad. The next thing is to remove the top of the carb and check the float adjustment and make sure the bowl is clean... |

Re: Carb problem???
I had a similar problem. I had just rebuilt the carb and it ran great for like three days. On a whim I checked the points (also recently replaced) and found them out of spec. A quick adjustment and it ran great again.

Re: Carb problem???
does it have a choke??? cause mine did and I did not know it and I was in the walmart parking lot when it sputtered off and then I fired it back up and it done it again. I finally a put in gear and cut off and I let it drift at 4 or 5 miles an hour into a parking spot and the choke is pushed all the way in

Re: Carb problem???
I just went through it - my problems was the vacuum advance on the electronic distributor I had just put in - it was stuck and not operating - replaced with a spare and away it went!
