700r4 Up againist a 250 I6? Has anybody done this swap??
Yeah has anybody on here done this swap in the trucks. I am probablly getting a 64 panel, straight 6 but three speed on column. I will be using this truck for hauling my tools around from job to job. And am needing it to get the best gas mileage possible. I have a 700 out in the garage so was thinking of putting it in there. What do you guys think????

Yes. Cut the driveshaft, get the common changeover kits and hook up the carb/trans cables.
The hardest part may be working out the cables/linkage for the carb & trans. Lokar really helps. |

I am not 100% sure but I think the 6 cylinders use a different torque converter than the V8s. In case your 700R was behind a V8.

Re: 700r4 Up againist a 250 I6? Has anybody done this swap??
Barry,
www.inliners.org has some info on that swap. Look under drivetrain. I have been researching that swap myself. I also have an I6 with a 3 speed. Lots of info to digest before making the leap. It's a toss up for me. 200r4 goes in the a TH350 with minimal mods. 700r4 has more mods to do but is suppose to be the stronger of the two. I guess it all goes to preference and $$$$. My .02. Rich |
