Try to find this topic using the search tool. Also, try private messaging Mudder on this topic. He has done it. It can be done with a little work. Trevor

Mudder is the one to talk to, it's definitely doable, but due to differences in the frame you'll need to do a body lift.

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

I looked at a truck with this swap and it looks like the biggest thing is up front.The`73-up core support mounts forward of the pre-73.This one was done less than correct in my book. The cab mounts were all used and the frame mounts were just off-center side to side, but still used.

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

It can all be done pretty easily. Would be awesome if the 67-72 cabs had a higher opening in the rear of the cab.

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

got em thanks Mudder. so to me it looks like a body lift with some steering mods and something done to the core supports. can you please do a more in depth list of all the mods necessary to complete the swap, if you don't mind, i would appreciate it and probably other members too. Thanks again Mudder.

Did you get the little deal I wrote about what I did? The only other thing not there would maybe be shortening the rear brake lines a little and I'm not even sure anymore that I had to do that. I would have to look the next time she lets me see her.

You could call me if you have specific questions or ask here and hope I can answer.

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

Why does the steering shaft need offset? The frames are the same width and the axles bolt up the same. The same steering box was used through`75,too.I`m just confused.

Sorry about The Confusion, I Just Posted that as a Alternate Way to Correct the Geometry when you Put a Body Lift on..........

That Pic Posted was of a 89 Body Sitting on a 85 Frame, That is why the Offset Difference look's so Much in that Pic.............

Hope that Help's, Rick

This Pic was From Mudder on Using a Ujoint Setup in His Conversion of his Truck, I Guess the Body Lift Caused the Steering to Have a Bind in it.......

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

If you have a really good rag joint I think you could get by without the ujoint but there are chances it could bind up. Whenever a body lift is used the geometry of the shaft is changed.

Re: Will a 67-72 body fit on a 73-87 4x4 frame

This isn't a 67-72 but the concept is near identical. The cab mounts were moved to the outside of the frame and used without a body lift. Of course the problem arises with the front of the frame dropping down. Body lift bushings/mounts were used under the core support to keep it up level with the rest of the cab.

This is another one I used to own that was done pretty close to the same way.
