gas tanks - saddle tanks

I have two tanks installed on both sides, with the doors of the tanks on the outside of the trucks sides...

They haven't been used in a VERY long time... Any helpful instructions/tips on getting them cleaned out and ready for use once again?

The only major problem would be rust from condensation. If you could get your hand on an endoscope you could check it out real easy other wise drop the tanks and pull the sending units and check'em out. Maybe just add a filter between the tanks and the pump, and keep a close eye on it. Varnish can be remove (can't remember what I used ) varnish remover.
