Fitting Tires on Wheels (16.5 x 8.25)
More specifically for 16.5" x 8.25" wheels but also with other sizes. With already limited tire selection (33" and greater), most of these tires are recommended by the mfg to fit on 9.75" wheels. The only tire I saw listed by the mfg for 8.25" wheels was ProComp 33x12.5. (I think Interco had one also.) Even BFG listed their 33x12.5 to mount on 9.75" wheels. Is it safe to mount the BFG on 8.25"?
Can we safely mount 35 x 12.5? How about 37 x 12.5? Obviously, the listed tire width is the same. There doesn't seem to the the rim width range with 16.5 as with other wheel sizes. Is that secondary to the bead, or lack there of? I think a lot of us have 16.5 x 8.25 wheels out here. Can we only run the 33x12.5?

Re: Fitting Tires on Wheels (16.5 x 8.25)
Fit one, then air up to maximum pressure. If it has a noticable crown in the tread, or the bead looks like its just gonna let go, then I'd go wider. I think a 12.50 would be fine on an 8.25 regardless of manufacture.
Call Big O tire, and they'll read from the chart for you, what is suggested width for each tire size. A.......

I used to have 33 12.5 15 All Terrains mounted on 15x8 4x4 ralley wheels. I didn't off road with it, but I hauled quite a bit of stuff. Never had a problem.

Is this a 4wd?No problem mounting 12.50s on 8.25s.If it`s a 2wd there are 9.50s out there.Check General Tire and other companies that make a full line of tires.
