paint code??

Does anyone know the correct paint code for factory white steel wheels?

How about the paint code for the white tailgate letters? Is it the same as the wheels?

Thanks, Bob

Re: paint code??

I doubt there is a code known for that stuff.I`d imagine if you went with the code for Frost White, the universal GM truck fleet color you`d be about right.Jim Carter is an expert on truck colors @ www.oldchevytruck.com ,I think is his site. There may be a way to contact him for tech info there.

Re: paint code??

Were all of the original steel wheels, white, or like my original wheels...silver. Or, did it depend on the front bumper....like white bumper got white wheels and chrome bumper got silver wheels? Honestly, as old as I am I should remember, but I wasn't into trucks "back in the day" when my '69 was new. But it seems to me that both colors for wheels are correct, but knowing which color to use is the question. It's a good one, too.

Re: paint code??

I thought they were all white except for maybe 67 which might of been color matched like red wheels on a red truck.

Re: paint code??

I think GM did away with color-matching the wheels with the '67's. But, I reserve the right to be wrong....and I do it better than not. My '65 had wheels that matched the body, all three of them. One was metallic maroon, the others were beige. My '61's were color-matched, too. One green, the other, blue.

See if you can dig up some brochure images and see what they have. That'll do it for you, won't it?

Re: paint code??

Not real sure on this.Chevy and GMC did different here.I believe a`69 had silver wheels and hubcaps. It may have varied on body colors, too.I never paid that much attention to details on base model trucks back when they were all over and you could have plenty of examples.I was into rip that stuff off and put some chrome on.

Re: paint code??

I've seen stock white on my 67 and stock silver on my Grandpa's 72.
