Shock ????
I just replaced my front springs ball joints, tie-rods, pitman arm, idler arm etc. I want to replace my front and rear shocks. It is factory height truck. What should I go with brand ect for quality ride I understand that the 9.99 ones at local auto parts are not very relaible but I don't want to go spend 50 bucks a shock and be unhappy. thanks

Although I might be willing to spend a little more, I hope you get an answer because I have the same question. I have a stock ride height, stock suspension (incl. HD coil springs and factory front sway bar), LWB 1/2 ton. The truck presently has disconnected air shocks in the back and no-names up front. I have always put KYB Gas-A-Justs in my cars, but they are pretty pricey. I'm worried they might be too firm for my truck, and make the back end skittish. Monroes are about half the price. The Monroe Sensatracs are comfortably soft under regular driving, firming up with worsening terrain, while the Reflex shocks are normally firm, but valving opens to absorb sudden jolts. Too many choices. What works best on a stock truck? I'm looking for the best of both worlds - straight line comfort without giving up too much in quick manuevers.

Well I went ahead and took a chance with the Monroe Sensatracs a couple days ago since I didn't get a quick response on the question. But The worked out pretty good not to bad for 38$ per shock.. We shall see in about 6 months to a year how good they really are???

You went for comfort. Great. Let me know what you think after you have a chance to drive with them. The price is certainly right.

i use sensatracs on my cars and gas magnums on my trucks, but i stuck a set of sensatracs on my 77 heavy half (whoops) but they seem to make it ride more like a car, and since it is my winter vehicle, im not complaining

I also decided to go with the Monroe Sensatracs. It was about time as my 80K mile truck still had Montgomery Ward shocks up front and broken Motorcraft air shocks out back. Needless to say I could feel the difference before I even got out of my driveway. I'm glad I didn't go with a firmer shock as the ride (LWB, stock suspension, coil sprung, half ton) is firm enough, yet comfortable, with these shocks.
