best street/strip shock???
looking for ideas on good all around street/strip shocks on a budjet.running cpp 3/4 drop springs.ride quality would be nice, but performance aspect is more important(handling and hooking).going for pro street setup, so i guess hooking would out weigh handling if the best of both worlds aren't possible.looking to stay around $100.00 a piece.im sure i need adjustable shocks but have no idea what brands.could i run adjustable in the back and drop shocks in the the front(like bell tech nitro active) to stay within price range.any and all ideas would be appreciated.tried to search for answers but couldnt find anything that seemed to answer my question about brands and different shocks frt and rear.

Re: best street/strip shock???
I'm using Competition engineering 3-way adjustables both front and rear. When you get a second, check out the new section Racing/Dyno.. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...splay.php?f=60

Re: best street/strip shock???
I wouldn't waste the money on the CE shocks, I have them on my 66 Chevelle, not impressed, it's hard to tell exactly which setting they are on. Best thing is a drag race spring. Moroso sells them for cars, but I'm not sure about our trucks. Best shocks would be QA1 or Varishock or Be Cool.

Re: best street/strip shock???
The single adjustable QA 1's are about $120 each. Maybe buy a pair of QA 1's for the front, and CE's for the rear or vice versa. Do 1/2 the investment now. I want some for my Chevelle.

Re: best street/strip shock???
do you know if running the best shock in the frt or rear is better for hooking.i know its not the best way to do it,but my truck is far from done, and i have to cut costs everywhere i can so i can at least get it on the road.my buddy has a 72 chevelle ss he's doing a frame off and when they're both done were taking them to the strip to settle a friendly rivalry weve got going.no offense to chevelles(they're awesome), but i want to kill him at the strip, so i need to hook as good as possible with money left over to finish the rest of the truck

Re: best street/strip shock???
That's the bad thing about trucks, theres no weight over the rear. You're gonna have to run a soft rear tire in order to hook. I like the M/T ET street radials. I'm not sure how bad our trucks wheel hop either. Check out www.cardomain.com or www.dragtimes.com for racing info on our trucks.

Re: best street/strip shock???
i've got another thread on here asking about rear tire width.im planning on building the bed floor from scratch using wider aftermarket wheel tubs so i can run the widest rim/slicks on the back possible when at the drag strip, without having to shorten the rear axle.i'll just swap them out and run street tires any other time.thanks for the links and the help,i'll check em out
