350 tranny leaking in my 72

So I finally got my truck back with the new tranny in. Drove it from the shop to my house, about 8 miles. Just went out for a smoke break and noticed a good sized puddle under the truck. It looks like there's a leak where the speedo cable comes in. Is there some small gasket there I can easily replace? Otherwise, I'll have to wait until the shop opens up Monday.

I wouldn't do anything to it at all. Put a pan under it, and take it back monday.

yeah a small O ring. Take it back because it will make a mess to replace it.

It's no big deal on the warranty; the guy does all my company work and is a good friend. I pulled it apart and found the o-ring. It's about level with the metal so I'm going to replace it right fast. One question though: should the plastic gear be able to be pulled out of the cable? It doesn't look broke but I don't understand how it doesn't just fall out into the tranny. Obviously, I know jack squat about transmissions.

OK so I got that fixed I think. Dig this - I got it back together and went to take it down the road right fast for a test run. I get about a 1/2 mile down the road and see what I think is a tractor or something. Turns out it's a van on its top with a guy hanging out the window unconscious. He eventually wakes up while I'm on the phone with 911. He looked ok except his head and hands were banged up pretty good. He'll wear his seatbelt from now on..
