Pops and I
My dad and I are driving about 2 hours with the trailer to go look at a 72 lwb. More than likely we will bring it home. It's to good a deal not to. If it works out I'll be posting pics later in the day tomorrow.

Re: Pops and I
We got it home about 30 minutes ago. 72 Custom Deluxe Hugger Orange. I still have to check on if it's the origional motor or not, doesn't seem to be. Tomorrow we are going to let the cylinders soak in some marvels and then work on getting it running before much else happens to it. I'll go out and take a few pics of it here shortly.....Michael

Re: Pops and I
The last of them. In the engine pic that is car wash degreaser junk, stuff doesn't work. The last pic on this post is my dad's 72 4x4 C20 with the 76 model camper he found, it looks brand new. The camper was used twice, then taken off of the truck and put in a barn.

Re: Pops and I
So are you going to let the cat-out-of-the-bag on how great a deal this was? Just curious. Looks like a pretty nice old truck.

Those camper pics are a teaser, I'd like to see more of that ride.

Re: Pops and I
I have pics of it before the camper on myspace. This is after he drove it home from Utah to Texas a few months or so ago.

Re: Pops and I
The plans are to get it mechanically sound then work on the cosmetics of it. I plan on paint and making it a decent driver to sell off for the least amount of money put into it I can.

Re: Pops and I
Looks like a pretty solid truck with an a/c cab, power steering and brakes. The bed floor looks to be pretty good also.
IMHO the price you paid is pretty good for the condition the truck is in. Have fun with it. Danny-Southeast Missouri |

Re: Pops and I
that olds engine is most likely a 74 to 78 350 ci emissions hog low compression setup that will cost you more in the long run to maintain than a small block.

Re: Pops and I
If you're planning on reselling it I would think the off brand engine would hurt it somewhat. Most people want to see a chevy in a chevy. Unless of course you've managed to get an ultra huge cubic inch cadillac under the hood. Well....some people still aren't going to want to see that. As far as the moldings go......I like to see em but it is quite an expense. Remember that patina look is still real popular and it's hard to fake it to look like what you've got already. Might want to consider getting a chevy back under the hood and a mild drop and a working air conditioner and go from there.

Re: Pops and I
If it were mine I would ditch that olds, and get a small block, just my 2 cents.
