Headers
Will I be able to sneak a regular shorty header on, or do I have to get the ones for a chevelle? Long tubes are not an option.

Re: Headers
I think those might hit the crossmember. I would go for the Malibu headers. Summit had some cheap (inexpensive) coated ones last time I checked.

Re: Headers
Why are the long tube headers not an option for you?
I am running a set of Cyclone coated full length headers on my show truck and my son's truck has a set of full length headers on his. The price on these headers were not so far out of hand that we could not purchase them, but that was years ago. For the most part, the shorties are just about the same in cost. The coated headers are a little high at $300.00+ in Summit, but their painted header is at $135.00. |

Re: Headers
long tube headers hang below the frame.... mine just happens to touch the ground once in a while.

Re: Headers
ok I think I may have a solution, well Jamie Joyce @ Doug Thorley Headers may have a solution, depending on how much you are willing to spend. These are way out of my price range even with the discount, but here is the link. (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...ct=2181&cat=18)

The chrome pipes on my bike have never discolored. From what I have read the discoloration of chrome pipes is the result of a lean mixture. the Throley headers are nice, but quite pricey. I'm all about spening the money on the right things... but I can't see putting out that much money on a set of headers. Last edited by smashingchuck; 02-07-2008 at 03:45 PM. |

Re: Headers
my dads has full length headers (his is a 73) and my 82 had full length headers... i have never had a problem with the fulllength headers in these trucks. my current (74) has shorties that are stainless steel that i snatched off of ebay for $60. never ran, never bolted up. No problems with them at all either, but i dont know the brand

Re: Headers
The ceramic coating changes to a little darker gray, but it stays clean looking.

Re: Headers
I already had long tube headers but I just took about 2 inches out of each tube where it was fairly straight then welded it back up and it worked out perfect.

Re: Headers
68+ to 76 Chevelle. Other years too but the late 60' and early 70's are the ones I ordered.
