Stupid question time !
Alright blast me if you must ! But would it be possible to turn a truck into a Blazer (IMPORTANT PART) w/o roof like 5150 is building .
Been thinking , lots of rusty cab long bed's around . I know it would be tons of work to fab all the rails and such , but with not alot of 2wd Blazers around and plenty of people shortening frames , fabbing stuff on these rigs etc. Heck custom frames being done . anybody ?

Anythings possible. Its all a matter of how much time you want to put into a project like that. I know how much time is in mine and I'm mainly restoring. Add into all the mods and stuff you'll have to figure out and you'll have a ton of time into it.

Re: Stupid question time !
As mentioned, anything is possible, it just depends on your time & funds.
You can get custom 2wd frames built by http://www.jimmeyerracing.com/ in Lincoln City, Oregon. They're around $10K. If your goal is just a 2wd Blazer, you're probably better off finding a 4wd and converting. If you're wanting a complete custom go for it.

Re: Stupid question time !
I would love someone to cut up a Long Suburban and make it into a Long Blazer. You would have to cut up alot of stuff thou. 2 Blazer tops and such to make everything look right. And thats just the beginning

Sure it could be done but think about what you'd be getting into. *shorten the frame *shorten rear drive-line *cut down brake lines to rear brakes *make up parking brake cable *shorten pick up bedsides *create some sort of 'B' pillar for the doors *graft truck bedsides to 'B' pillar to get rid of that truck cab/bed gap *create a floor structure to prevent sagging cause your about to cut the roof off *cut out back of cab & shorten floor to equal a blazers *cut the roof off and make some kind of 'finished' windshield frame *cut down existing truck doors and find/make the reinforced latch panel *relocate fuel tank & lines That's all I can think of off the top of my head. |

Re: Stupid question time !
I Dont Think It Would Be That Big Of A Deal
You Already Know All The Shortening Stuff So Just Start With A Short Bed Ive Cut The Backs Out Of Several Truck Cabs For Pass Through Stereo's Some Went Well Some Didn't Since You Will Be Reconnecting To The Bed I Think It Would Be All Good Hard Part Would Be Structure Bracing To Look Good Later You Couldnt Just Throw In A Piece Of Angle Here Or There It Would Need To Look Pretty Nice I've Always Wondered If You Could Fix Body Sag With More Cab Mounts It Would Seam Easier Than Rebuilding One Of Those Rocker Box Supports I Thought Those Sucked The Only Other Problem Would Be Cab Floor Height And Bed Floor Height Are They Similar To The Blazer Or Sub Floors But If It Was A True Custom With No Top I Say No Biggie |
