What is the difference bt. pwr and non power steering shafts?

I upgraded my Jimmy to power steering a couple of years ago and everything bolted right up to the steering box. Drives great, steers even better.

the ps shafts i have are a few inches shorter that the non ps ones i have . i thought it was because of drifference in size of steering boxes.
