Arrow Hood To Cowl Seal..Here's How I Think?

Don't need help with this one, (or at least I think I don't) though I did notice in a another thread that someone was having difficulties in working out how these seals went on. just did mine and I was a bit confused as the seal that I removed (on the right in first pic) had been fitted directly to the cowl and was a different shape to my replacement, and the only way I could see to fit the new one was with the flat ribbed part of the profile going under the cowl, leaving what was the curved piece on the old seal standing straight up on the new one.

Re: Hood To Cowl Seal..Here's How I Think?

Eight,
Your up late!!

Unfortunately when some of our truck's replacement parts say "just like original" it's not. Several people, including me, installed one of these cowl seals. Mine lifted the hood up about a 1/4" (or 8mm).

Since you posted the pic, I can see why there's a problem. The hood is forcing the seal flat, thus lifting the hood. I ripped my replacement cowl seal out and never looked back.

Looks like your having some wierd weather in the UK. It's SUNNY!!!!

Always been a nite owl, and the amount of coffee I down in a day can't help either, but what makes things harder for me is that you guys are all geting up over there and coming online when it's time for me to piss off to bed....I was born on the wrong side of the bloody pond.
I know what you mean about losing that seal altogether, but whenever I find there is something missing I get the urge to replace it.
Thats why my hood has that familiar high point in the middle as it's been forced out of shape by the seal being installed incorectly for so long.

We get that strange yellow ball in the sky here from time to time, some folks throw stones at it, it's just not natural.
